There have been a lot of cancellation rumors surrounding "Bloodline" Season 3 since Netflix has not yet confirmed it. However, fans of the thriller-drama series should not give up their hope to see the next installment onscreen after the series showrunner teased that the next season may take a darker storyline.
In an interview with Deadline, showrunner Glenn Kessler hinted that although "Bloodline" Season 3 is not yet official, he and other series creators including Todd A. Kessler and Daniel Zelman have always planned to feature more seasons. He added that the next installment may take a darker turn than the former to explore more on relationships, adding "Bloodline" is all about watching how relationships progress.
"We always planned on multiple seasons," Kessler revealed. "It's about the family and the relationships of those family members. Danny was always going to de, like in Crime and Punishment and other stories where it happens early."
The news came after Kessler was asked about the possibility of "Bloodline" Season 3 in an earlier interview with Indie Wire. He revealed that there have been a lot of talks going on between the studio and the network, and nothing is finalized yet.
"Right now we don't know," Kessler told the publication. "We have more we want to try to tell. We hope we get picked up. It's between the studio and the network."
"Bloodline" Season 2 finale ended with the dark sides of the series, where John Rayburn (Kyle Chandler) killed his older brother Danny Rayburn (Ben Mendelsohn). The former season also saw John leaving the Florida Keys with no clue if he is returning back or not to his family.
Since Season 2 finale ended with some major cliffhangers, fans could not wait to find out the fate of "Bloodline" Season 3. Earlier reports revealed that the production is still evaluating the performance of the series given that Season 2 had a lower rating from the critics than the initial season.
There is also a speculation that the series is facing financial issues. The production is reportedly dealing with the Florida Keys tax incentive and until it is not yet resolved, the show will not yet be finalized.
