Chinese President Xi Jinping called French leader Francois Hollande on Friday, offering his condolences upon hearing the news of the deadly truck attack in Nice, State-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
Xi expressed his strong condemnation to the "appalling brutality" of the recent attack that has claimed the lives of at least of 84 people, extending sincere condolences to the victims.
The Chinese leader also sympathized with the injured and families of the victims.
With the sad news, Xi renewed China's opposition to any form of terrorism, adding that this act of cruelty is a common threat for all nations.
The article also noted that China is a staunch supporter of the French government's extensive plan to defend its national security.
The Chinese national government furthermore offered its hand to the European country, saying that it is ready to deepen their strategic ties on cracking down on terrorism. This deal to safeguard security and peace will be seen beneficial not only to the two countries but to the whole global community as well.
French officials shared that the terror attack in Nice happened on Thursday night, with a truck ramming into a crowd celebrating the Bastille Day of the French national day.
While 84 people, including 10 children, have been killed, it was reported that 52 others remain in critical condition, 25 of which are on life support.
Police reports said that the truck, speeding for two kilometers along the crowded street, was manned by French Tunisian Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel.
Found dead on the passenger seat of the truck after exchanging fire with the police, it was found out that he also carried two automatics weapons and an ammunition in the vehicle.
During an address, Hollande called that attack as a "terrorism of opportunity," announcing three days of national mourning as well as an extended state of national emergency.
