Miami Heat president Pat Riley has finally realized that losing Dwyane Wade to the Chicago Bulls was a huge mistake. Speaking for the first time since losing the all star guard, Riley regrets not being around and attending to the issue.

One person who was curiously out of the mix when Dwyane Wade was negotiation for his new deal was Miami Heat president Pat Riley. His absence was a bit odd though he finally cropped up and spoke on the loss of his prized guard.

Riley has been known to find ways to keep star players together until now. The Wade situation was not different from last season though he found a way to convince the 34-year-old to sign on the dotted line last year.

Curiously, Wade seemed bent on leaving the Heat if Riley was unable to pay him what he was actually worth. But somehow the all star guard bent and agreed to a $20 million one year deal.

When the regular season ended, it was déjà vu all over again. Many were under the impression that Wade will eventually fold again if Riley puts in his sweet talk. The deal was no different from what was offered last year. Making it worse was that it was for three years.

Wade knew better than to bite the bait and such led him to hook up with the Chicago Bulls. Wade officially signed with the Bulls, NBA.com reported. Though the terms of the contract were not disclosed, it is believed to be $47.5 million for two years according to USA Today.

The apparent loss of Wade has apparently sunk in with Riley and now he regrets not being there to handle the negotiations as well. He took responsibility for the oversight and made it clear that he does not hold any negative feelings on the decision of the veteran guard.

Riley and Wade haven’t spoken the final decision but the multi-titled coach plans to send his former star a long email, the Palm Beach Post reported. But if he had the chance to see Wade again, he bares that it will be a pretty warm embrace. Riley may just get that chance especially once the Bulls and the Heat collide next season.
