While rumors of an impending Blake Griffin deal between the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics abound at the moment, recent speculations have also emerged that the Chicago Bulls could also offer a deal with the Hollywood franchise for their high-flying, All-Star power forward.
Recent NBA rumors were telling that the Celtics are the favorites to land the 27-year-old former Oklahoma Sooners standout via a trade this offseason with the Sacramento Kings also involved in a potential high-profile three-team trade that may also include the Kings' small forward Rudy Gay in the package.
However, the latest chitchats from around the internet says that the Bulls are making a run at Griffin as well with fellow All-Star Jimmy Butler or the big man duo of Nikola Mirotic and Taj Gibson as Chicago's trade baits.
The Inquisitr indicated that Chicago is set to offer their top two power forwards, Mirotic and Gibson, for the five-time All-Star, but noted that "it would probably take more than Mirotic and Gibson for the Bulls to pry away Griffin from the Clippers".
It would be hard to imagine Clippers head coach Doc Rivers accepting that kind of deal as the team will have an overabundance of mediocre number fours if that happens as he also has Marreese Speights and Brice Johnson in his roster at the moment.
Meanwhile, Morning News USA reported that the Bulls could agree to send Butler to the Clippers if they can get Griffin in return.
The report said that while Chicago has denied placing their All-Star shooting guard on the trading block this summer, a speculated "tension brewing between Butler and Bulls" could separate the two parties sooner or later.
It then continued to say that a trade between Griffin and Butler could be beneficial for both squads.
With Griffin, the Bulls could finally get the big man they want to lead them in the future especially after the departure of both Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah this offseason. Also, Butler will once and for all be at peace after constantly being involved in trade rumors in the past two seasons as he attempts to settle in his favorite city of Los Angeles as well.
Letting go of Griffin is said to be a "wise move" for the Clips as he is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. Another disappointing season in 2016-2017 may force him to accept offers from other teams next offseason, which could lead to him leaving LA for nothing.
