Doctors opted to remove Bobbi Kristina Brown's breathing tube today to prevent infections, but her condition has not improved. Brown is still in a critical condition, but the doctors needed to remove her breathing tube.
A tracheotomy was performed on the late Whitney Houston's only child to fix her breathing tube. However, everything else stays the same, as if a waiting game for the Houstons and Browns, NJ reported.
No official statement has been released on the real status of Brown's current health condition but the removal of her ventilator does not mean that a decision was made with regard to her life support.
Brown has been on a ventilator since she was rushed to the hospital after being found unresponsive and face down in her bath tub inside her home in Roswell, Ga., on Jan. 31. The family explained that according to medical specialists, the removal of the breathing tube was a normal procedure being done to patients who have spent a long amount of time with it to avoid infections.
Dr. Jordan S. Josephson, an ENT Specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital, explained to USA Today that undergoing a tracheotomy procedure is typical with conditions such as Krissy's where a ventilator was used for more than a couple of days.
"If the expectation is she's going to be on for weeks, months, who knows how long, the best way to deliver oxygen to the lungs is through the tracheostomy," Josephson said.
