"Supergirl" season 2 will continue to feature Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant.
However, according to TV Line, the actress will no longer be classified as a series regular but a recurring cast member.
A rep from The CW network confirmed that Flockhart will first be seen reprising her role as Cat in the premiere episode of "Supergirl" season 2.
From there, she will be part of multiple episodes whenever her schedule allows her to film.
The publication noted that Flockhart cannot just head to and stay in Canada to film her scenes for a couple of months while leaving her entire family in Los Angeles.
In season 1, "Supergirl" was still under the CBS network so the filming took place in Los Angeles. Now that "Supergirl" has been picked up by The CW for season 2, filming has been moved to Canada.
Just like "Supergirl," "The Flash" season 3 and "Arrow" season 5 are also filming in Canada.
Meanwhile, "Supergirl" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg released a statement regarding Flockhart's status in the series.
"'Supergirl' won't be 'Supergirl' without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen," he said.
In other news, "Supergirl" lead star Melissa Benoist recently opened up on what it's like to be playing such a big role.
While speaking with TV Insider, Benoist said that executive producer Greg Berlanti gave her the most brilliant advice when it came to playing the iconic role.
"You're just like me: You internalize everything and you might be overwhelmed by the pressure. But we wouldn't have put you in this role if we didn't think you were capable,'" Benoist recounted.
"Supergirl" season 2 will premiere on The CW sometime this October.
