Kobe Bryant and his decorated career may meet retirement soon as told by Kobe in an interview.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bryant will play one more season and finish his two year contract with the L.A Lakers before quitting basketball. Bryant has been in and out of the Lakers games' because of recurring injuries. Since then, he has been contemplating on his options after his career in basketball ends.
In his interview, he was also asked about that fateful day when he was arrested for sexual assault in 2003. Although the case was dropped, Bryant acknowledged the difficulty yet the beauty of the process. He was also asked whether he regretted spending more time to his career than his relationships, and he said, there were days when everything was good, but he questions the time they weren't.
He also added that at the age of 17, when he was introduced to the NBA and everything was there for the taking, it was overwhelming, but Bryant said, it all went down to giving focus. He also expressed his disinterest in being in films unlike other athletes.
According to Yahoo Sports, it's impossible for the Lakers to play in the playoffs this year and they are the unlikely team to take home the championship next season. If Bryant's only motive is to take on another championship, why does he even bother to stay? He said, "I know what Mitch tells me. I know that they are hell bent about having a championship caliber team next season, as I am."
Mitch Kupchack acknowledges Bryant's thoughts, saying that Lakers has been Bryant's team for his 18 year career in basketball and they might as well try a new run.
Recently, Bryant collaborated with producer Gotham Chopra for the intimate doc "Kobe Bryant's Muse." The documentary features Bryant and his stellar career, the rivalries, mentorships and those he calls his allies.
