The Nintendo NX on release date has been confirmed as a portable console with "a breakaway controller," a new report said, adding that the gaming machine will hit the market packing sufficient game titles support with Pokémon, Mario and Zelda leading the pack.
MCV reported that "Nintendo is putting together a triple-A software line-up," and the plan is to ensure that units will sell like hotcakes following the scheduled March 2017 market debut of the device. "Sources close to Nintendo have told MCV that the firm is determined that NX will not suffer the same slow start as either the Wii U or 3DS," the report added.
The three game titles mentioned are sure to come out shortly after the NX release next year, the rollout spread from March through September 2017. It's unclear which among Pokémon, Mario and Zelda will get out of the gate first but the latter has been rumored as a Nintendo NX launch title.
The report indicated too that "Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is possibly the first title that will made available to gamers and more will follow.
Aside from Pokémon and Mario, a Final Fantasy game title is in the works too for the NX as the same MCV report claimed that Square Enix has already agreed to support the upcoming hybrid console. Other confirmed games will be provided by Sega, Ubisoft, Activision and Warner Bros.
The NX hardware - in terms of design, power and usability - is something to look forward too as the report described the rumors that paint the device as a mobile console with a detachable controller as "100 percent accurate." On the GPU side, the Nintendo NX is tipped to boasts of graphic capabilities that will "somewhere between a PS3 and PS4."
The chief design of the NX is likely to appeal with both mobile and console gamers with "Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers," the report said. One Nintendo executive teased the final cut of the NX as "a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one."
Previous rumors have indicated that mass production of the Nintendo NX will commence anytime in the second half of 2016, which aligns with the scheduled release date of the gaming device - no later than March 2017.
