"Empire" season 3 recently booked singer Mariah Carey for a guest-starring role in the hit FOX TV series.
According to TV Line, Carey will play the role of Kitty, a mega-superstar who will head to Empire Entertainment to engage in a collaboration with Jamal (Jussie Smollett).
However, their duet will bring forth a slew of different obstacles. While dealing with them, Kitty will encourage Jamal to dig deep so he can easily overcome his obstacles and finally reach a musical breakthrough that he deserves.
Meanwhile, there are some rumors that Kitty and Jamal's mom Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will have at least one big scene together.
Throughout the past two seasons, Cookie has been very supportive of her second son's music career. However, Cookie is also very opinionated when it comes to the artists that her son collaborates with.
Kitty is expected to be a total diva so it's possible that Cookie will have a hard time dealing with her.
Not to mention, Jamal also happens to be Cookie's favorite child so it would be quite difficult for Cookie to see his son developing a close relationship with another woman even though it's nothing romantic at all.
In other news, the filming for "Empire" season 3 is still ongoing at the moment.
Photos from the set have been posted on the show's official Instagram page.
Some videos from the recording of "Empire's" original songs have also been posted on the same social media account.
"Empire" season 3 will premiere on FOX on Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
