The webtoon “W” was touted to enjoy viewership success the way “Descendants of the Sun” did during its 16-episode run from late February to mid-April 2016. It seems to be moving in that direction based on it’s a 13.5 percent rating last week.
However, based on a new photo of the lead stars released on Wednesday, it seems the producers of the show are also taking the same road in promoting “W” now that there are rumors it would go off air for two episodes to give way to the Rio 2016 Olympics coverage.
Taking advantage of a possible lull, “W” actor Lee Jong Suk posted on Instagram on Wednesday a couple shot with actress Han Hyo Joo. Besides wearing pink sweaters, the stars are in a tight embracing, giving the hint they are possibly in romantic relationship but are hiding it from the public.
It is exactly the same way “Descendants of the Sun” lead stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo were packaged by the production. They were hinted as in a relationship, but secretly dating in foreign cities. While the real score comes out every now and then, such as when Song Joong-ki referred to Song Hye Kyo as an elder sister during the Shanghai fan meet when she was the special guest and fans were expecting them to admit their relationship.
Four months after “Descendants of the Sun” concluded, fans continue to speculate on the real status of the two, which is something that Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo have to learn to live with when the webtoon also ends.
Meanwhile, IBT reported that Episode 7 will air on Wednesday at 10 p.m., as scheduled, according to MBC. For Episode 8, the broadcaster said, “For Aug. 11, ‘W’ is second in priority. The first program to air will be the relay games. Because a lot of important matches are taking place on Aug. 11, we have not yet finalized the schedule.”
