It was just in July when the hit Australian drama series, "Wentworth," ended its fourth season. Since the series is already confirmed for "Wentworth" Season 5, recent reports are claiming that the newest season is going to feature a new main character for the series, and Bea Smith will have a Jon Snow moment.
It can be recalled that the ending of "Wentworth" Season 4 showed the death of the series' main character, Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack). Despite of the death scene, fans are still speculating that the character would return in the upcoming "Wentworth" Season 5. However, the showrunner of the series, Jo Porter, already confirmed that Cormack is not coming back, Game N Guide has learned. Porter said that it was extremely hard for them to kill the show's lead character.
According to the same publication, Porter stated that the death of the main character is going to open new storylines for the series. It was said that the series might need a fresh direction to keep the interest of its fans intact. With Porter's revelation of possible new story arcs for "Wentworth" Season 5, rumors are loud that the upcoming season will feature new faces.
On the other hand, despite of the confirmation of the show's executive producer that Bea Smith is really dead, speculations are still loud that the death of the lead character is just a trick, similar to the death of Jon Snow in "Game of Thrones," Australian Network News reported.
It can be recalled that HBO's "Game of Thrones" killed Jon Snow during its fifth season's finale episode; however, the character being played by Kit Harington managed to return to life in the show's sixth installment. This was said to be the basis why fans are hoping that the team behind "Wentworth" Season 5 will do the same thing.
Meanwhile, in regards to the release date of "Wentworth" Season 5, there is still no confirmed date yet; however, rumors are loud that the fifth installment has a high chance to be aired on May 2017.
