China’s mobile game giant iDreamSky Technology Limited announced on Feb. 23 that it will be adding Bruce Lee as its newest playable character for the Chinese version of "Temple Run 2."
This is in cooperation with Bruce Lee, LLC, an international licensing company with the exclusive privileges to license the world-famous icon.
"Temple Run 2" is a phenomenal mobile game developed by Imangi Studios. The worldwide hit has already reached a one-billion download mark, securing its position as a household name in the gaming industry.
Bruce Lee is known for his exceptional martial arts skills. He is attributed as the man responsible in bringing such art of defense to the global stage, especially in the film-making arena.
Bruce has also dabbled in acting, landing on lead roles in internationally recognized movies such as "Enter the Dragon" and "The Way of the Dragon."
On "Temple Run 2," the martial arts icon will play as himself and will be doing all the jumping and running routines for the game. Once in a while, Bruce's character will also mention some of his famous quotes and movie lines.
Michael Chen, iDreamSky's chief executive officer and founder, explained why Bruce is suited for the mobile game:
"As one of the most talented martial artists of all time, Bruce Lee immediately appeals to many Chinese users and is a perfect fit for the Temple Run franchise," he said.
Meanwhile, the world-renowned martial artist's daughter, Shannon Lee, shared her anticipation for the newest venture.
"I am very excited to have my father become part of the Temple Run family. It's apropos the character will launch in 2015, which just happens to be his 75th birthday year!" she eagerly shared.
"Not only is this a great and fun way to celebrate my father's birthday. I am grateful that his legacy will continue to live on for fans of all ages to enjoy."
