Nadia Ali, a former pornstar from Pakistan now living in the United States of America, tweets about how working in the porn industry opened her mind. Like pornstar Mia Khalifa, Ali has been vocal about Muslim women coming out and living the way they want.
Nadia Ali took to Twitter to talk about the adult film industry.
"I swear, experiencing being the porn industry not only opened my mind a lot more, but our own society of expression," Ali tweeted.
"What balanced me out how conservative my loved ones are," she tweeted.
Ali has left the porn industry and now is an exotic dancer. In an interview with Refinery 29, Ali revealed the reason why she quit porn.
"After doing 20 scenes, I quit, because I realised that in some of the scenes, they were trying to make Middle Eastern people look bad," Ali said.
"They offered me to do a scene where an all-American white guy dressed like Donald Trump is fu**ing a Muslim girl... I felt disrespected. That wasn't going to be my 21st scene," she added.
During the interview, she mentioned that from Pakistan perspective, she has disrespected the Islamic wear - hijab.
However, according to Ali, it is about being open to her sexuality.
"But it wasn't about that - it's me being open with my sexuality. A Middle Eastern woman that doesn't know how to get intimate with her husband or how to masturbate or whatever, she can watch my porn and be open with her sexuality, like, 'You're not the only one."
The ex-pornstar revealed that she is from a "strict Islamic family." And she felt like she was an "outcast."
Ali started off as a dancer and an escort. She became a part of the porn industry in 2014.
"A lot of porn companies and adult companies would not shoot me and I would not get a lot of work if I did not wear the traditional Islamic, Middle Eastern wear," Ali stated.
Nadia Ali is a practicing Muslim and doesn't wear hijabs during her performances anymore.
