Blizzard has taken another step to punish those Overwatch players who often use the "GG EZ" expression after games by replacing them with several funny sentences instead.
The phrase GG EZ is short for "Good Game, Easy" and denotes that the players on the opposing side of the team were not even challenging. It is considered dismissive and shows that there can still be sore winners.
Overwatch is a multiplayer competitive shooter and insults are to be expected but Blizzard is trying to curb abusive players on chat. Players who try to type in GG EZ in Overwatch would not be able to actually send the message as it will be replaced with phrases and sentences such as "I feel very, very small. Please hold me," Eurogamer has learned.
Instead of coming off as an arrogant player, Blizzard's new phrases that replace GG EZ make it seem like the player is actually nice or just a plain baby. One sentence even says "It's past my bedtime. Please don't tell my mommy."
Blizzard's GG EZ replacements are not actually included in the PTR patch notes and it is not confirmed whether the feature will be rolled out to all Overwatch players across the world, GameRant reported. Other phrases besides GG EZ still do not have replacement statements and Blizzard could still get to them in future updates.
Overwatch players will also soon get more changes and improvements in terms of character balance. There will be upcoming nerfs and buffs coming to Mercy, Mei, Genji and the rest of the gang in order to improve the gameplay experience for everyone.
One new map called Eichenwalde is also in the works. Details are still vague and the company has not yet unveiled the release date for the said map.
Other funny statements and phrases that Blizzard is replacing GG EZ with include:
- It was an honor to play with you all. Thank you.
- Mommy says people my age shouldn't suck their thumbs.
- C'mon, Mom! One more game before you tuck me in. Oops mistell.
- Good game! Best of luck to you all!
- I'm wrestling with some insecurity issues in my life but thank you for playing with me.
