Former world number 1 Tiger Woods is nowhere to be found in the upper echelons of golf players in the latest release of the world ranking, Fox Sports reported.
According to the list, Woods is currently at 70, his lowest since he sat at 75th way back in 1996. Way back when he was just 21 years old, and after which, rocketed his career by claiming his first PGA Tour against Davis Love in Las Vegas.
However, Woods, who is currently 39, is rapidly falling down the ranking due to obvious reasons of course.
After he plummeted from 1 to 11 in May 2014, Woods has only played 6 PGA Tours, which includes three missed cuts, two withdrawals. Aside from the age factor, Woods has faced personal setbacks that have haunted him and his family over the years.
Woods, according to Golf Week, has put himself on a self-imposed "benching" to work on his game, and as of this writing, he hasn't made or issued any statements with regards to his return.
In relation to his pending return, this coming March 19-22, the annual Arnold Plamer Invitational will be held on the Bay Hill Course in which the former number one Tiger Woods has won eight games, is the projected leader by many including sports analyst and players as well.
If ever he would not play in the said invitational, it has been projected that he would stage his possible re-entry at the prestigious Masters on April 9-12.
To make the situation easier for Woods, it is not just him who have dropped big time in the standings. Notable professional golf players have plummeted as well with Woods. Steve Stricker who is formerly 13th just a year ago is currently at 63rd, while Luke Donald has also dropped 24 places from 24th to 48th and Jason Dufner from 17th to 47th.
