Big Bang's G-Dragon celebrated his 28th birthday by making a generous donation. The rapper made a donation of 81.8 million won ($73,240) to the United Nations Refugee Agency.

"I want to be a help to all the refugees who had to flee their hometowns due to civil war and violence," G-Dragon said in a press statement obtained by All Kpop. He also aims to create more awareness about the cause.

Right after G-Dragon's 28th birthday, YG Entertainment collaborated with UNICEF for a project called "UNICEF's celebratory donation." It is hoped that Big Bang will help raise awareness and money for the project, which aims to urge individuals to celebrate their special days with a donation.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time for G-Dragon to take part in charitable acts. In August 2013, the Kpop idol made a similar donation to the Seungil Hope Foundation for the establishment of a rehabilitation hospital.

On Aug. 18, 2014, he once again donated 81.8 million won ($73,240) to the patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also called Lou Gehrig's disease. At the time, fellow YG Entertainment artist, Sean, who is also suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease, took to Instagram and shared a photo taken together with G-Dragon at the hospital.

It is said that G-Dragon decided on the donation in return for his fans' overwhelming love and support throughout the years. After six years of training under YG Entertainment, G-Dragon made his official debut as the leader of the Big Bang in 2006.

G-Dragon, who is noted for his constantly changing image, became the second member of Big Bang to make a solo debut in Japan following Daesung aka D-Lite. He embarked on his second worldwide tour as a solo artist, which included a four-dome tour in the country in 2013.

"During the past ten years, there have not only been good days," Soompi quoted G-Dragon as saying during Big Bang's "MADE" final world tour on March 6. "There were bad days too. But I think we are here today in this spot because you were all there for us during those times, looking out for us and loving us."
