Although “NCIS” Season 14 has lost one cast member, two new agents will be joining the show to replace Anthony DiNozzo, the character of Michael Weatherly. Apart from there, the first promo for Season 14 was released and hinted something that fans of the show would like to know.
Other news even reveal that apart from the two cast, it will become three soon with the addition of MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves. In a the video titled “Rogue," it gives a glimpse of new NCIS special agents Alexandra “Alex” Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) and Nicholas “Nick” Torres (Wilmer Valderrama).
“[Weatherly] had a fantastic journey with the show. The truth is there’s no shoes to fill, I’m definitely wearing my own. I’m excited because as a new member of NCIS I get to bring a new energy to it, a different dynamic,” Valderrama said during last month's Comic-Con, adding that he will not be serving as the new DiNozzo, Entertainment Weekly reported.
The synopsis of the show states that the team of Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will investigate a deadly car explosion in Washington which is linked to Torres, according to TV Line. Said undercover agent disappeared six months ago while having an assignment in Argentina. It also adds that Gibbs will be asking Quinn to "stick around" with his team after eight agents were already rejected for DiNozzo’s position.
Spoilers also reveal that Torress never joined a team before since he has always worked as an undercover agent and apparently, undercover agents work alone. But Bishop played by Emily Wickersham told Torres that “[There’s a] first time for everything.”
While DiNozzo was always humorous in the light drama series even in the most intense situations, it appears that the character of Esposito will also be having a similar impact to the show. The silly side of Quinn was seen in the short preview of the "NCIS" promo.
The next season will also reveal some information about the past of Gibbs wherein two marines were beaten in his hometown. His father, Jackson Gibbs, will also be introduced and he will be exposing some stories about his past.
“NCIS” Season 14 will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
