All-Star point guard John Wall recently denied that he was "unhappy" when backcourt-mate Bradley Beal received a massive deal from the Washington Wizards this summer, saying that "he (Beal) came out at the right time when the contract money went up" and that his moment will come.
Beal had recently reached a five-year, $127 million extension with the Wizards during this year's free-agency which is set to earn the shooting guard an average of $25.4 million per season, one of the richest in the league at the moment.
Wall was rumored to be upset about Beal's deal as he is only currently earning $16.9 million per season while being the squad's main man. The 25-year-old is entering the third season of his own five-year contract with Washington worth $84.8 million and could negotiate for a contract extension at the end of the 2017-2018 season.
There were also speculations that the three-time NBA All-Star was "rankled" by the Houston Rockets giving James Harden a four-year, $117.9 million deal also this summer, which will pay the bearded shooting guard an average of $29.5 million per season.
"I love the game of basketball so me talking about Bradley Beal getting more money, I'm not mad, I'm happy. He's my teammate," Wall said, as per Slam Online. "He came out at the right time when the contract money went up, I can't control that. If I do what John Wall is supposed to do and the Washington Wizards win, I will make my money down the road."
"James Harden's contract extension, I don't care. I'm happy for him, that's my guy. I'm not mad at him... Please stop saying I'm watching money, I'm not," he added.
Meanwhile, ESPN reported that Wall also posted a video on LeBron James' media platform, "The Uninterrupted", explaining his side of the said rumors.
"I just wanted to clear the air for all these people," said Wall. "Listen, that doesn't matter to me. If I produce like I'm supposed to on the basketball court and take care of myself and image, I'm going to be fine with making money. That's not why I play the game of basketball."
Wall's unhappiness rumors came out following his recent interview where he said that he and Beal have a "tendency to dislike each other" on the basketball court from time to time.
