It is a new record for Little Mix with "Get Weird," an 80's pop album released in Nov. 2015. The album makes them the first British girl group to have a double platinum certified record this decade. The girls now follow Girls Aloud whose album, the 2008's "Out of Control" sold more than 796,000 units in the United Kingdom alone.
With "Getting Weird selling 808,000 units worldwide, the former "X Factor" contestants now join the ranks of Girls' Generation (South Korea) and AKB48 (Japan) who had multi-platinum albums locally this decade, Celeb Mix reported. Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock have been on the road for six months and recently concluded their "Get Weird" tour.
The British girl group likewise made a superb performance for their fans at Newmarket Racecourse this month as the last night of their tour. The quartet wore blue and black sequinned lace leotards and fishnet tights on a very raunchy display.
Having concluded the tour, Thirlwall was spotted enjoying downtime with her mom and friends over the weekend. Dressed in black camisole top, blue skinny jeans and black boots, the singer enjoyed a casual night out at Newcastle's Bon Bar on Aug. 28, Sunday, Mail Online reported. She made a low-key exit via the back doors of the club after partying the night away, her chestnut brown hair resting on her shoulders.
Despite vocal girl groups shining in worldwide music market since 2010, females ironically have to go through the hard way. Achievements in the music industry play a strong role in the dominance of girl group bands. Female artists are believed to find it more difficult to have a breakthrough compared to boy bands because of gender, as in the case of Little Mix who stated double standards, intimidation and sexism as among their challenges.
The quartet feel lucky to get the support of many girls and boys alike. They gained massive following with their empowerment anthems, such as "Salute," "Change Your Life," and "Little Me." The four vocalists have unique personalities that inspire their fans. Edwards, Thirlwall, Nelson and Pinnock are living examples that success takes hard work to achieve.
