Apple patched the exploit that allowed Pangu to create iOS 9.2-9.3.3 jailbreak, essentially nullifying the jailbreaking tool with the recent iOS 9.3.5 release. While the jailbreak community expects 9.3.5 to be unlocked as well it seems more logical to wait for an iOS 10 jailbreak.
That's because Team Pangu has the works already rolling for an iOS 10 jailbreak version, which the Chinese hacking group had showcased when the cracked build of Apple's mobile operating system was demoed running Cydia during the MOSEC 2016 gathering. Cydia, of course, is the alternative source of apps for jailbreak fans.
But as noted by Game 'N' Guide in a report, that backdoor for a next jailbreak was soon shut down by iOS 10 beta releases so it's more practical on Pangu's part to follow through on its underway works for an iOS 10 jailbreak and skip jailbreaking iOS 9.3.4 or 9.3.5 altogether. Focusing on iOS 10 seems more sensible at this point.
For one, Apple Insider is convinced that iOS 10 heading to its final cut is near. In a report, the tech site predicted that immediately after the September 7 event by the tech giant iOS 10 golden master or GM will be seeded to developers.
And going by the iOS release template used in the past, the move should signal the impending arrival of the official iOS 10. The wait time should be no more than two weeks.
"In years past, new iOS releases have launched the Wednesday before a Friday iPhone launch," Apple Insider said though noting that a change in schedule could happen but will be solely based on the actual availability of the company's next iPhone - the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Now as iOS 10 GM is essentially the final cut of the software, Pangu or TaiG can launch into the task of modifying the new mobile OS version and perhaps finalize a jailbreak a few weeks after. If the decision is made to base the JB tool largely on iOS 10, then a jailbreak release is likely to happen as early as October 2016.
But if any of the dev groups would want to provide a longer lasting jailbreak, and that means holding out for a first major OS upgrade or iOS 10.1, the wait time is likely to extend a bit longer. In the past, jailbreaks built over the first update of freshly-issued iOS were completed before yearend.
And that means, whether coming from Pangu or TaiG, the iOS 10 jailbreak release will happen as early by October or December 2016, depending on what iOS 10 version developers would want to work on.
