A briefcase carrying jewelry worth $3 million was stolen from Drake and DJ Future the Prince's "Summer Sixteen" tour bus on Tuesday (Sept. 6), according to police.
The tour bus was in the parking lot of the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix when the robbery took place during a 15-minute window between 10 and 10.15 on Tuesday night while the rappers were performing, Associated Press reported.
In video footage (below) obtained by TMZ, Drake can be seen looking visibly upset as he goes off on someone from his security crew after learning that millions of dollars in jewelry had been stolen from the tour bus, which he shared with his DJ.
Police have apprehended a suspect named Travion Lamar King in connection with the theft and the 21-year-old is currently being held for felony burglary at the Maricopa County Jail, where he was already booked on Wednesday (Sept. 7) for criminal trespassing after Arizona State University police found him on the university's Tempe campus with the stolen briefcase.
CCTV surveillance footage from the venue helped the police to nab the suspect. Sgt. Vince Lewis, a spokesman for the Phoenix police, said that King was easily identified because he used to do contract work with local concert venues, including the Talking Stick Resort Arena, according to Page Six.
Lewis did not specify who the jewelry belonged to but confirmed that it was not the "Hotline Bling" hitmaker. The police not only arrested the suspect, but also managed to recover the stolen jewelry and will be working in tandem with the victim to account for the stolen items.
The "Summer Sixteen" tour, which Drake has been co-headlining with rapper Future, kicked off in July and spans across several cities in the U.S. and Drake's native country Canada.
