Blizzard wants to make Hearthstone's Arena gameplay mode more balanced than ever by simply taking out the low-powered cards that most inexperienced players tend to pick during the drafting phase.
The Arena multiplayer gamemode on Hearthstone requires 150 in-game gold or $2 to play and the rewards depends on how many wins a player can score with the maximum being 12. There are three losses that can be tolerated before the reward will finally opened.
Players are also required to choose from three random characters before they can draft the cards. The cards are then randomly chosen depending on the class and players will choose from three randomly selected cards per batch as well up until they can pick 30 cards in total.
Ayala said that Hearthstone Arena cards that are also worst-performing on the higher-end of the spectrum will also be removed, VG247 has learned. The new set of cards will take effect in the next patch from Blizzard.
One interesting fact is that the Paladin set of cards will remain the same and the Rouge will only have two cards removed (Goblin Auto Barber, Undercity Valiant). The Mage set of cards will have the Faceless Summoner, Snowchugger and Forgotten Torch removed.
The Hearthstone Mage's 7-mana Fireland Portal card was surprisingly not included in the list of Arena cards to be removed, PC Gamer reported. Popular Hearthstone streamer Krip has been ranting about the card's unfair power over the Arena card drafts.
Ayala said in their official Battle.net blog: " Most of the feedback we've received on Arena is centered around class balance. For the last few content releases, Mage and Rogue have bounced back and forth as the top two most played and most powerful classes. Paladin has been in a tier by itself below Mage and Rogue, while the last six classes have done some shifting around in a tier below these three."
Players will have to wait until the next patch to see whether the new Arena set of cards will balance out the classes in Hearthstone. Blizzard's full list of the cards that will be removed can be found on their blog post.
