A New Yorker filed a class action suit against Apple because of the misleading iPhone 7 upgrade program pre-order. Apple blocked the iPhone Upgrade Program members from pre-ordering the iPhone 7.
As stated in the class action suit filed this week according to ZD Net, if you like to purchase the Apple's iPhone 7 after it has been launched, signing up as one of the iPhone Upgrade Program members would not pay up. With the Apple's iPhone 7 class action suit, accusations were hurled at Apple that they misled their consumers with the iPhone Upgrade Program.
A law agency has filed a class action suit against Apple with the accusation that Apple has fooled its biggest fans who availed the iPhone Upgrade Program and they seek for compensation and an order pushing Apple to have the iPhone 7 available to all iPhone Upgrade Program members.
In 2015, Apple launched the iPhone Upgrade Program when they released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the Computer World reported. This iPhone Upgrade Program, a counterpart of the other U.S. mobile carriers' pay-as-you-go plans-- allows its consumers to pay monthly dues for the mobile gadget. The Apple Care plus the after-sale warranty plan is a part of package and that the customer has the right avail the new iPhone yearly. After paying for 12 months, consumers can bring back their old iPhone, enroll again, and start paying for the newer model.
Last year, as the iPhone Upgrade Program was unveiled by Apple, this made the iPhone Upgrade Program members able to swap their existing iPhone six months later under the condition that 12 out 24 payments had been paid under the monthly payment agreement of two years.
iPhone upgrade may only be done at the U.S. Apple Stores but not online. And also, Apple records in the fine print of the iPhone Upgrade Program that they keep their "right to refuse or limit" the number "of any device for any reason". Analysts described the previous year's iPhone Upgrade Program as another method for Apple to lock its customers into its ecosystem.
