Jeremy Lin weighed in on his humble beginnings and how he came to be where he is now. Baring his struggles through adversity, all these are seen as potential seeds for the Brooklyn Nets moving forward.

Jeremy Lin may not be among the elite players the NBA has today, proof of which was his snub from the top 100 players listed down by Sports Illustrated. Much of that was covered in a previous post.

One point taken from that is the fact that Lin played most of his years as a backup guard. It was part of his Cinderella story in the NBA which all started in 2010. Lin never got drafted and had to get to the league the long route.

In the interview with CCTV-5 as reported by Jilinportal.com, Lin recalls those humble beginnings. He shared the struggles and how he was able to deal with the criticisms that came his way which somehow carries some discrimination angles.

Lin admits that it came to a point where he would consider quitting altogether, a result of depression from constant badgering. Thankfully, his persistence got the better of him and such has started to pay dividends.

All of that, of course, started when he broke out with the New York Knicks, something that bumped up his stock. He got a chance to rise even more but his stops with the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers pulled him back to reality.

He recovered with the Charlotte Hornets and now he gets a chance to rise once again with the Brooklyn Nets. Incidentally, the Nets are looking to rise as well, making the current tenure something that could benefit both.

Aside from being the starting point guard, Lin will have the uncanny task of stepping up as a leader. Seeing that the team is filled with young players, Lin will be called upon to employ the same hard-work, humility, persistence and toughness to the team, Nets Daily reported.

Apparently, that is the indirect expectation from Lin though it can benefit the team as a whole. The Nets are not favorites to make the playoffs this season but Lin’s roadmap could spring up some surprises.
