Manny Pacquiao believes Conor McGregor can't touch Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing match, but he guarantees the latter will destroy the former if ever the undefeated boxing champion ever dares to step into the octagon with the reigning UFC featherweight title holder.
Pacquiao, who was promoting his upcoming bout with Vargas on the Undisputed hosted by Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless, gave his insight on a potential showdown between Mayweather and McGregor.
The former eight-division world champion really thinks McGregor will have a hard time beating Mayweather in a boxing match mainly because of Floyd's vast experience in the ring, not to mention his laser sharp technical skills. However, he has no doubt McGregor will obliterate Mayweather in an MMA fight.
"I think McGregor is no match for Floyd in boxing." Pacquiao said on the newest show on Fox Sports. But if Floyd in the sport of McGregor, then I would root for McGregor."
Pacquiao also had a chance to criticize Mayweather's boxing style anew, saying the reason why Floyd's spotless record is still intact up to now is because he never wants to engage in a furious exchange of punches in the first place. He added that Mayweather doesn't care if his bout would turn into snooze-fest as long as he can bag the victory in the end.
When asked if he can beat Pacquiao should he be given a second shot at Mayweather, the Filipino boxing icon didn't think twice in asserting his claim that he can reverse the situation the second time around.
Pacquiao, who was elected as Senator in the Philippines last May, is making his return to the ring after announcing his retirement following his showdown with Timothy Bradley last April. He's scheduled to lock horns with Vargas for the WBO welterweight title. The Pacman will also be defending his lineal welterweight title in that bout.
