A judge has ruled Nick Gordon legally responsible for the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown. This was after Gordon failed to show up for a court hearing in the wrongful death lawsuit against him on Sept. 16, Friday.
The daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown died in August 2015 at the age of 22. It was six months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia residence, People reported.
Days after her death, Bobbi's estate filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Gordon, accusing him of injecting the 22-year-old with a toxic cocktail before placing her face down in the bathtub following an altercation.
The lawsuit also alleged that Bobbi, who used to live-in with Gordon, was a victim of domestic abuse and made several unauthorized transactions from her bank account to the tune of $11,000 during her medically induced coma in hospice care.
This was the second time that Gordon had failed to appear at his scheduled court date, according to Fulton County Superior Court's Judge T. Jackson, who said that Gordon's absence means that anything he alleges hereafter will be admitted through omission.
Gordon's lawyers argued that their client was innocent and released a statement after her autopsy results were made public. For them, Gordon was trying to save Bobbi's life and has co-operated with law enforcement authorities during the course of the investigation and no one loved Bobbi as much as Nick and that he had also suffered a great loss.
"I am pleased with the outcome of today's court proceedings," Bobby said in a statement obtained by E! News. "All I ever wanted was answers relating to who and what caused my daughter's death. Today's judgment tells me it was Nick Gordon. Now I need to process all the emotions I have and lean on God to get me and my family through this."
