The Japanese video game called "Berserk" will be coming to the West in early 2017. The game developer revealed that it will take a lot of time to localize it.
According to the official website of the recently launched Japanese video game, it comes from the "Dynasty Warriors" game franchise. It will be released under a new title for the West, which is the "Berserk and the Band of the Hawk."
Omega Force, the team behind many "Dynasty Warriors" video games at Koei Tecmo, will be the one handling the localization. This new video game will do its best to cover the events of manga creator Kentaro Miura's manga that began back in 1989.
The story will be based mostly around the one armed and one-eyed protagonist Guts. The Band of the Hawk is the name of the group of mercenaries that the protagonist was once a part of. Their leader at that time and his friend is Griffith, who later betrayed them for acquiring power.
The video game will be a good fit for its genre, according to Forbes. The protagonist will have to take on a lot of enemies at once. It will also have a dark and brutal story, which will also retain the level of blood and gore.
Producer Hisashi Koinuma told Gamespot in an interview that it will take them a lot of time to localize the video game in the West. They will have to consult with the ESRB to see how far they can go with their depictions. They have to be careful with what they can depict for the Western release.
Koinuma said that they might be able to retain a lot of the core elements of the original source material. They can localize the game without breaking any rules that will prevent them from releasing the game to the West.
The game producer also revealed that the latest anime series from the manga has already been aired. The anime production committee approached them to see if their team wanted to make a good game. Another reason was that it is a popular IP in Japan and a lot of people wanted it to become the next musou game.
