WWE Clash of Champions 2016 - Kevin Owens will make his first defense of his WWE Universal championship against former two-time WWE champ Seth Rollins in the main event of a very loaded card at Clash of Champions this Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
WWE Raw's first exclusive PPV event since the brand split will feature five title matches, including the bouts for newly-minted WWE Cruiserweight championship and the much-coveted individual prize on the brand - the WWE Universal championship.
Here's the brief overview and prediction of every match slated on the PPV event:
Alicia Fox vs. Nia Jax - Fox, the former WWE Divas champion, looks to exact his revenge on Jax after their last match ended in a no contest as a result of Jax bulldozing Fox into the barricade last September 12. WWE eventually booked a rematch between the two women's superstar in the PPV event's kick-off show.
Prediction: Jax with a one-sided victory over Fox.
T.J Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick - After bagging the WWE Cruiserweight belt in the final of the Cruiserweight Classic, T.J Perkins set to make his WWE debut against the returning Brian Kendrick, who bested Metalik, Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann in a Fatal-4-Way match to earn a title shot at Clash of Champions.
Prediction: T.J Perkins pinning Kendrick, though rivalry is expected to continue
The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and/or Xavier Woods) vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson (with Amber Gallows) - In a rivalry that has been going for four months now, the New Day aims to put Gallows and Anderson at bay for good.
However, there's a reason why the Club duo are the favorites heading into their rematch with the reigning champ. The monsters from Japan seek a New Era in Raw tag-team division by making a big statement on Sunday.
Prediction: Gallows and Anderson becoming the new Raw tag-team champion.
Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks - It was originally booked a SummerSlam rematch between Charlotte and Sasha Banks. However, Bayley's emphatic run since her debut earned herself a shot at the Raw women's championship as well. While Banks and Bayley have great respect for each other, expect these two competitors to set aside their friendship for a chance to wrap that belt around her waist.
Prediction: Sasha Banks regaining Raw women's championship, paving the way for an intense rivalry with Bayley at Hell in a Cell.
Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn - This could be a no.1 contenders match for the Universal Championship title. Jericho hasn't been on a championship scene for quite some time, while Zayn is hungry to prove that he belongs in the big league..
Prediction: Chris Jericho winning over Zayn and it could lead the way for a face turn weeks ahead of Hell in a Cell.
Rusev (with Lana) vs. Roman Reigns - The disappointment surrounding their SummerSlam booking prompted WWE to book another showdown between the two hulking superstar. Reigns, who was kept out of the championship scene to build more contenders for him, faces one of the most dominant US champion in history in Rusev.
Prediction: Reigns becoming new US Champ. Regardless of the result, the biggest winner here is the US championship which deserves high-profile booking like this.
Sheamus vs. Cesaro - the best-of-seven series between Sheamus and Cesaro has been surprisingly entertaining. Sheamus's collapse after storming into a 3-0 lead provides more drama for the seventh and deciding match of their series. Remember, the winner of this match could launch himself as the no.1 contender for the U.S Champ or perhaps the Universal title.
Prediction: Sheamus thwarting Cesaro's epic comeback.
Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins - Finally, the main event of the evening belongs to Owens and Rollins, the final two participants in the memorable Fatal 4-way match for the WWE Universal championship vacated by Finn Balor. Triple H made his presence felt that night after months of inactivity, knocking out both Reigns and Rollins with his pedigree to hand Owens his first reign as WWE Universal champ. As Rollins gets another shot at the coveted belt, he's facing not only the Prize Fighter but another screw job from the Game.
Prediction: Owens retaining the title. Triple H screwing Rollins again.
WWE Clash of Champions will start at 8 p.m US CT live on the WWE Network. Results and highlights will be posted below once available.
