Season 1 of Mob Psycho 100 has come to an end, but it's never too late to recap the 12th and final episode of a really great Anime series. Because Mob deserve better than this, a lot better.
Episode 12 Highlights: Mob & Reigen
-The episode starts where last week's show left is off. Reigen was lying on the ground after being slashed by Sakurai's psychic-enhanced plastic sword, which is basically a very sharp Samurai, if you get my point.
As expected, the gruesome picture of his master's lifeless body before him (although he's not really dead) happened to be the last straw before he turns into a violent psychic monster (just ask Hanazawa).
-Just when Mob was about to explode, Reigen casually stood up on his own, as if he never got struck by a laser sharp Samurai in the first place. That surprised everyone in the awakening facility, including Mob who thought his master was goner.
Reigen told Sakurai he never felt his slash at all, as matter fact he thought there isn't any special in his sword at all, except it was made of plastic. Sakurai attacked again, but this time Reigen caught the sword by his bare hands and snapped it in half.
-Suddenly, the guy who was trying to convince Mob to run away a while ago appeared to be their only hope to escape from the facility alive. He blasted away a huge spirit from Matsuo's poison Jar, erased Muraki's ethereal clones and popped Ishiguro's black-holes like soap bubbles.
It was later on explained that Mob transferred all his energy to Reigen at the time of psychic explosion, amplifying his master's psychic power to ten-fold greater (1000 percent).
-Realizing Reigen's enormous psychic power is a threat to the Claw's very existence, Ishiguro went full power and started assaulting him. The Scar's leader hit Reigen with a 500kg tackle, sent him flying with one ton punch and finished his attack with a 1000kg guillotine choke. Unfortunately, not even one of these attacks penetrated Reigen dense energy barrier.
-Reigen then smacked Ishiguro into the walls, ripping off his mask. He was confronted again by Sakurai and Muraki, but he easily nullified all their attacks. He then advised the two to return back to the society as commoners because having psychic power doesn't make one greater than normal people - an idea a pissed off Ishiguro vehemently dismissed.
-With his mask off, Ishiguro's face was unveiled. The Claw's 7th division leader happened to be an only man with scars all over his face as a result of countless battles with the organization leader.
Ishiguro then created a massive blackhole around him with intention of sucking everyone in. Reigen asked Mob to lend him some power, but his student also ran out of gas. Fortunately for them, Sho Suzuku intervened and easily defeated Ishiguro with one punch.
-Sho then explained that he was sent by HQ to report if there's someone useful enough in the facility. It was later on revealed that Sho is the son of Toichiro Suzuki, Claw's top man.
-Meanwhile, Matsuo released his final spirit from his jar, hoping that could be his trump card against Mob and company. Little did he know that Dimple already consumed all his spirits in the jar. With one karate chop, Dimple knocked out Matsuo, officially ending the war.
-The next scene shows Mob and Ritsu eating dinner with their family. As usual, Mob bended another spoon. Ritsu fixed it but this time using his psychic power, surprising their parents.
Hanazawa met the other kids from the awakening facility. He promised to help them hone their skills as they prepare for Claw's counter-attack. Reigen was seen interacting with Dimple. The Spirit consultant claimed Mob's energy transfer left him with the ability to finally see spirit.
What to expect in Season 2:
Although Bones Inc. has released any statement confirming second season of Mob Psycho 100, the cliff-hanger ending suggests that there will be a second anime run in the future. The Claw's 7th division might have been eliminated, but the criminal organization remains strong with Toichiro Suzuki at its core.
If Season 2 gets a green light, anime fans will get a deeper understanding of the Claw as a group, its 600-men army, and the fabled Super 5 consists of the organization's most powerful espers.
