AOA member Seol-hyun and Block B's rapper Zico have separated. Their respective management agencies have released statements confirming the breakup.
An official of Seven Seasons agency, which manages Zico, revealed in a phone interview with Yonhap News Agency that the "two have decided to part ways". The said official added the separation was caused by "personal reasons". No other specific reasons were said in respect of Seol-hyun and Zico's privacy.
On the other hand, Seol-hyun's management agency FNC Entertainment also confirmed the breakup. "The two have felt a lot of pressure from the public's attention on them after their dating news spread," according to FNC Entertainment.
Aside from the public pressure, their busy schedules were partly the reason why Seol-hyun and Zico broke up. FNC Entertainment added, "They [Seol-hyun and Zico] have naturally become estranged due to busy schedules."
Zico is currently under fire several hours after his separation with Seol-hyun has been confirmed. According to South Korean entertainment news website All Kpop, Zico posted an Instagram update with a link to his Soundcloud where he uploaded two instrumental versions of his song "It Was Love". Zico also encouraged his followers "to sing their own renditions" of his song even giving them free downloads of instrumental versions of "It Was Love".
Fans of the ex-couple found this move by Zico as "disturbing" believing that the song was in reference to his recent breakup.
His post had been bombarded with disapproving comments like:
"You're supposed to be sad after a breakup, not showing off your music on SNS."
"He said the public relationship was overwhelming, but I guess not a public breakup."
"He's a jerk til the very end.."
"Grow up. Seolhyun was too good for you."
This was not the first time Zico was criticized because of his relationship with Seol-hyun. He was a target of criticism ever since the news of them dating broke out. The two publicized their relationship only last August and admitted they had been dating since March. Zico was previously condemned by the fans because of his "unmanly actions" for instance making Seol-hyun go to his house.
