Based on Chinese Novel "Bu Bu Jing Xin" by Tong Hua, SBS premiered "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" on Aug. 27. It depicts the story of Goryeo Dynasty princes, Wang Wook and Wang So. The two men fall in love with the 16-year-old court lady Hae Soo. At the same time, they fight for the throne of Goryeo Dynasty. Wang Wook and Wang So, the two rivals who want to marry the same girl, fight each other for the throne.
Online publication MStars News revealed the possible ending of "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo." Based on history, the website suggests that the story ends with Wang So becoming the third king. He not only wins the fight to become the king from Wang Wook, but also he wins over Hae Soo. Eventually, Wang So gets married to Hae Soo, who becomes the queen of Goryeo dynasty and the mother of Wang So's children.
Fans can expect to see a happy ending for Hae Soo and Wang Soo in "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" finale unless the showrunners decide otherwise and give their story a different ending. However, things don't look too good for Wang Wook.
"Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" finale (episode 20) airs on Oct. 31. Meanwhile, fans were hoping for an extension. It was speculated that the network will air two special episodes in early November.
However, the network has confirmed it is impossible to air an extra episode as the series was "pre-shot," as reported by Koogle TV. Unfortunately, there will be no "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" episodes airing after the Oct. 31 finale. Following the end of the fan-favourite drama, the network will premiere period drama "Romantic Doctor: Teacher Kim."
"Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:00 pm KST on SBS. More spoilers and updates are expected soon.
