Star Trek game developer - Cryptic Studios has announced its plans to honor Lenoard Nimoy by building a memorial for him. Nimoy died on Feb 27 due to pulmonary disease and the news of his death spread like wildfire throughout the world. Thousands of fans traveled to his home planet - Vulcan to pay tribute on the online game, thus prompting the game developer to come up the idea of building the virtual memorial.
Apart from being an integral part of the Star Trek movies, Nimoy was also instrumental in being involved with the online game as well. He undertook voice-overs for the game and thus the 83 years-old absence would be dearly missed by the fans. The Verge reported that the virtual memorial would come into existence on March 5, after routine online maintenance on the much-loved game.
Meanwhile in Canada, fans have started 'spocking' their $5 currency notes. The $5 currency note has an image of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, who is the former Canadian Prime Minister and who also bears an uncanny resemblance to Nimoy. What's more, the color of the $5 currency note is also pretty similar to Nimoy's uniform. So his die-hard fans are sketching his brows and tweaking other features on the note to 'spock' it.
It is not entirely clear whether defacing currency notes in Canada is legal or not, as the law is silent on this matter. However, it doesn't deter the fans one bit who have been 'Spocking Fives' for numerous years now and the fad re-surfaced again after Nimoy's demise.
