The latest "This Is Us" episode 4 spoilers revealed that Randall will experience discrimination from his white neighbors.
In the past episodes, it was revealed that Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searched for his biological father who left him in a fire station before he was adopted by Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore). Randall invited William into his home and learned that he has Stage 4 stomach cancer. Spoilers revealed that Randall's neighbors will report William as a loiterer in their affluent neighborhood.
Discrimination was already hinted in episode 3 when William tried to leave after he was confronted by the aging Rebecca who dropped by for a visit while she was on her way to New York. Randall tried to stop William and get him to the doctors. Their scene on the road got withering stares from the neighbors.
It was known that Randall lives in a predominantly white neighborhood in New Jersey, which speaks truth in recent statistics that showed 75 percent of people living in Jersey are white and only 14 percent was black.
This incident will bring back painful memories when he was young. Randall was often teased by his adoptive brother, Kevin, and other kids in school. They will call him "Webster" in reference to a black kid adopted by a white family. This will be shown in Jack and Rebecca's story when they visited a community pool one summer day.
"This Is Us" episode 4, "The Pool" will air on Oct. 18, 9/8c. Watch the promo below:
