During its birth last July that created a huge hype of walking, running, chasing, and battling lifestyle among trainers, "Pokémon Go" since then faced the dilemma of players using third-party maps and scanners to hunt down Pokémon easily. Now, in a recent update made by Niantic, the company unceremoniously disabled third-party applications to provide equal opportunity for all players.
According to GameNGuide, the new security update administered by Niantic disabled third-party applications that enables tracking and scanning of Pokémons. After the game's fully operational tracking system, the function being used to hunt down Pokémon creatures was reported to be broken after the game's initial operation, a more recent error has been found again which to a security update that was made by Niantic that took up a complete reverse engineers effort.
Niantic also addressed that there are similar errors which led to the decreasing number of players of "Pokémon Go," so the company was determined to obliterate the errors in the game.
First signs of the new security measures by Niantic were notified by FastPokeMap on its Twitter account, posting that the "new security by Pokémon Go servers has been rolled out."
In addition, the message was followed up by an assessment that "this will be tough to bypass. I sure hope Niantic has a real tracker planned because otherwise I ask you to boycott," the project representative added.
According to reports, the new "Pokémon GO" update asks users to reCAPTCHA. After entering the CAPTCHA, anyone with an illegally downloaded apps will be abandoned and shut out of the game.
Some Pokémon Go players using allegedly using third-party scanning apps and cheats to catch Pokémon are being warned by Niantic about the possibility of bans through direct notification upon entering the game, iDigitalTimes reported.
The statement reads: "We have detected signals from your account that suggest you are using third-party applications or modified software typically associated with cheating." "Please be aware that the use of such software can result in the permanent banning of your account and loss of all progress in the game at any time." In closing, it's advised that "if you have been using such software, we encourage you to stop."
A third party app called FastPokeMap said "It's not just FPM that was shutdown, every app/site just died. We have to reverse the api again."
During the latest security update, Pokémon GO scanners and maps that have access to Niantic servers have been broken which includes Quickmap, PokeEye, PokeAlert, ScanGo, OpenPokeMap among others. However, scanners that are not API-based are reported to still be functional.
