The Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians will both have played in a Championship series in 2016. The Indians booked their ticket to the Fall Classic for the first time in almost twenty years by beating the Toronto Blue Jays four games to one in the 2016 American League Championship Series.
The Indians are set to open up the World Series at home in Progressive Field on Tuesday. Across the street at Quicken Loans Arena Lebron James and the crew will be receiving their championship rings in their home opener for the 2016 Championship on the same day.
For many years in the sports world teams from Cleveland were seemingly cursed in futility, now, however, it seems like a great time to be a Cleveland sports fan.
When you think about the recent success the city is enjoying, you can't just say it's Cleveland's year. The reality is that the Cleveland Indian's front office built a great team.
Built around an excellent young starting rotation that incidentally, was second in the league in earned run average. You add a nasty bunch of relievers coming out of the bullpen each night. Marry that kind of pitching with pop in the lineup and speed and you got yourself a real contender.
The Cavaliers, how can their success be explained? Well, anytime when arguably the greatest player in the game in the last ten years decides to come home and insist on bringing a championship to the good folks of Cleveland. What can you do as a front office but decide to put the pieces together around him?
Both organizations are a good mix of young talent and veterans.
It gets even scarier for the rest of the sports world when you think about Lebron taking redefining his legacy seriously.
And scarier yet, when you think that the Cleveland Indians will have a better pitching staff next year when they recover from a few injuries that sustained late.
There is no doubt there has been a shifting of the paradigm.
Championship in Cleveland could all of a sudden become synonymous with one another.
