"One Punch Man" season 2 release date had been confirmed weeks ago. As a result of the assured comeback of Saitama and the rest of "OPM" characters, fans cannot help but scrutinize few distinct characteristics of their beloved white-caped superhero.
Since the release of "One Punch Man" anime adaptation last year, most anime fans were shocked about the nature or characterization of the main protagonist of the said anime, Saitama.
With his superior display of strength and noticeable impassivity, as some fans would describe, the peculiar superhero immediately became a household name. Thanks to its unique presentation, "OPM" immediately enjoyed a stable ranking in the anime industry with an 8.83 over 10 viewership score, according to MyAnimeList.
With its unique characterization, some avid fans offered their own view regarding Saitama. In a media discussion website post made by a fan, he mentioned that Saitama's eccentric reaction towards ungodly events and destruction might be likened to a kindergarten teacher.
The post then explained that other characters in the anime are like fragile kindergarten pupils, whose view on school events are likely to be compared with a matter of "life-and-death" situation. However, as from the perspective of the teacher, it's just a mere skirmish that concerns an infestimal aspect of life.
However, such view was not left unnoticed. While some fans agreed, others chose to view things from a different perspective regarding Saitama's "apathetic nature." Rather than comparing the main "One Punch Man" character that of a teacher devoid of emotional ties, some fans actually believed that such manifestation is just a mere façade.
Such view though not entirely supported by other fans, still revealed how the author somehow wanted his character to be portrayed and be interpreted. The most common objective as most fans see it, is that Saitama as a character in of "One Punch Man" should be void of any comparisons, for he is just a mere bystander. He understands the larger view of the event while struggling to notice the subtleties underneath. Thus manifesting through his unusual and irrelevant reactions during chaotic and life-threatening events.
Though the interpretation is not concrete, it still makes a point. However, things may change starting the next episode as most rumors pointed to a drastic character change in the anime. Guess we would just have to wait for the release of "One Punch Man" season 2 in 2017 as previously announced by Kotaku.
