Amazon might sell tiny personal drones soon as they have been awarded a patent for the supposedly nifty devices that can help users see far or locate some things.

The images in the patent show something out of a sci-fi movie as the personal drones follow around the user. It can also do whatever the user wants such as locating a lost sock or capture a live feed to be streamed back to the user.

Of course, a patent does not necessarily mean that Amazon does plan on bringing personal drones soon. In addition, a patent might mean that they are not yet ready to develop such a tech but is only planning for it.

Amazon's patent also suggests that the tiny personal drone could identify items through RFID tags placed on every day materials such as clothing, HUH has learned. Users could program their own drone stop recognize different items depending on the RFID tags or Amazon could do it themselves for a universal fit.

Users could also use the tiny personal drone to see what's outside or to patrol a small perimeter around their house. Other details such as battery life and camera resolution have not been detailed in the patent although there are some interesting descriptions.

Amazon said in the patent: " The UAV may be used, for example, to record information from a perspective different than the user's perspective, scout dangerous situations, or locate/retrieve items for the user, among other possible tasks. In some examples, the UAV can be small enough to carry on the user's person (e.g., in a bag, in a pocket, on a jacket, etc.) and allow for ready deployment."

The tiny personal drones could also follow voice commands from the user and analyze them, GeekWire reported. Who knows, Amazon could also fit in Alexa inside the tiny drones for a more intelligent device.

There is no word if Amazon will follow through with the tiny personal drone considering that the patent was just awarded to them. If they do decide to build the product, it could take several more years before a consumer version becomes available.
