It was last September when the hit Netflix series, "Narcos," ended its second installment with the farewell of its former lead character, Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura). With the third season already confirmed, recent reports say that Pedro Pascal is returning to reprise his role as DEA Agent Javier Peña.
According to iTechPost, the show's official twitter page posted a picture of agent Peña standing on a podium and he seems to be addressing reporters relating to the death of Pablo Escobar. It can be remembered that Peña was the agent assigned to look into Escobar's drug trade, but he was pulled off the case prior to the arrest of the drug King Pin.
The same publication cited the statement of the real agent Peña, saying that he was not involved in the Cali Cartel case. It was already confirmed that "Narcos" Season 3 is going to showcase the Cali Cartel. With that said, the executive producer of the series, Eric Newman, said in an interview that he still needs to connect things regarding agent Peña and his possible role in taking down the Cali Cartel. Newman added that he loves working with Pedro Pascal, and that it would be great to be back working with the said actor again.
In addition, the same report noted that agent Steve Murphy, played by Boyd Holbrook, might not have a chance to return in "Narcos" Season 3. Sources say that Murphy left Colombia after Escobar's death.
On the other note, News Everyday cited several sources claiming that the Cali Cartel is way bigger than Pablo Escobar's drug trade. It was said that the Cali Cartel is a complex organization with various members, and it was operating about 90 percent of the drug industry in the United States. It was also cited that the said cartel rose on top of the drug chain right after the fall of the Medellin Cartel.
As of the moment, there is no official confirmation relating to the premiere of "Narcos" Season 3, but reports claim that it would most likely be next fall.
