IOI is bound to be disbanded soon and many are wondering what will happen to JYP trainee Jeon Somi after IOI ends its promotion as a group.
Will she go back in the training room? Will she debut with a new JYP group or as a solo artist? The following are some of the reasons why Jeon Somi should be the 10th member of TWICE.
She can't be a solo artist
While Jeon Somi is very talented and beautiful, she is not fit to be a solo artist. In comparison with other JYP artists like Park Jimin, Baek Ah Yeon, and Baek Yerin, Jeon Somi lacks the powerful vocals pertinent to be a solo artist. Moreover, Somi's personality is fit for a group where she can interact with other members.
She can't act
Jeon Somi's dad has done several cameos, including in "Descendants of the Sun," but it seems that Somi will need workshops if she decides to act. Moreover, Jeon Somi has a face of a foreigner making her unfit for traditional heroines in which most South Koreans can relate to.
No other trainees to debut with
This is probably the deal breaker why Jeon Somi needs to join TWICE after IOI. Based from the female trainees featured in "Sixteen," there were only five left (Chaeyeon, Chaeryong, Natty, Eunsuh, and Somi) after Minyoung and Jiwon left JYP. The two were the powerful vocals in the competition. However, their nervousness got better of them. There were new trainees, but they may need some time before they are ready for the stage.
Experience from IOI
Jeon Somi has gained experience from Sixteen, Produce 101, and IOI, it seems that Jeon Somi has fermented well and JYP will eat his words that Somi is like an unfermented kimchi and he thinks that Somi seems out of place in the group.
Wide fanbase
It is undeniable that being a part of IOI has catapulted Jeon Somi's popularity and now the young JYP girl has a huge fanbase locally and internationally. Somi's fans and followers could be beneficial to TWICE and JYP in terms of endorsements and album release.
Speaks English fluently
Thanks to her Canadian descent, Jeon Somi is fluent in speaking in English. This will widen the reach of the already diverse group TWICE. This will open more opportunities for the group, not only in South Korea, but in abroad as well. Furthermore, her foreign looks is fit to endorse international products.
Fits well into the group
Jeon Somi has a role that she can play in TWICE. Similar to Dahyun, Somi is quite energetic and has a bright personality contrasting to the images of most members who are reserved and innocent. Moreover, Jeon Somi is best friends with TWICE's maknae Song Chaeyoung.
