"Jane the Virgin" Season 3, episode 3 recently saw Jane (Gina Rodriguez) losing her virginity to Michael (Brett Dier).
In "Chapter Forty-Seven," Jane and Michael were told that they can already engage in sex after the latter has fully recovered from a recent shooting. Jane and Michael have talked about having sex, but they had to wait for a couple of weeks before they could so. Finally, the couple was able to engage in an intercourse, which means that Jane is no longer a virgin.
Following the episode, fans couldn't help but express their disappointment over the network's decision to no longer write Jane as a virgin. On TV Line's site, @coocforcourtney wrote, "Not gonna lie, I'm a little disappointed. I feel like the show played into an obvious trope and it was too much about whether the sex was good or not... and not about their connection or what she was losing it to him and that's why it was special. I feel like we missed out on the tenderness and intimacy of someone's first time, especially when you're in love."
Another fan @Steven noted that "Jane the Virgin" will no longer be about its main subject which is Jane staying a virgin despite already giving birth. "Now the show's 'Cougar Town.' It's no longer about a virgin like 'Cougar Town' was no longer about cougars."
One fan @Zed also said that the episode seemed to be very anticlimactic especially considering the fact that Jane waited so long to have sex. "Pardon the pun, but did this feel a little anticlimactic to anyone else besides me? Especially given the revelation that they had done nearly everything else. Good episode, but still expected more.
In other news, even though Jane and Michael already had sex, some fans still believe that the lead character will end up with Rafael. @JJ wrote, "Michael may be Jane's first, but I think Rafael will be her last when this show ends!! I still have hope."
"Jane the Virgin" Season 3, episode 4 will air on The CW on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
