It was just a normal Wednesday morning, Nov. 9, until this traffic enforcer started manning the roads while supported by crutches.
Wang Chunhua of Chongqing municipality observed a traffic build-up along Xinnan Road in Yubei district due to non-functioning traffic lights. Being true to his sworn duty, Wang got out of his patrol car, headed toward a wayward cable and tried to pull it back in its proper position. Meanwhile, he sought for his colleagues' help.
Despite the power supply being back up and running within 10 minutes, the cars on the road had already piled up and the traffic needed to be directed to ease the congestion, according to Wang.
Wang then proceeded to do just that. Holding the crutch with one hand while directing traffic with the other, Wang managed to guide the motorists.
According to a volunteer, Wang Changxu, normal traffic conditions would not have been restored quickly had Wang not intervened, thinking the act was a picture of dedication.
Wang was just recently discharged from the hospital after sustaining an injury at work six months ago. Despite being advised to take a month off from work to let his leg fully heal, Wang went back to work soon enough to still have his crutches hold him up in the busy Chinese roads.
