After the departure of former NBA Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant from the Oklahoma City Thunders, Russell Westbrook has been on a complete tear in the first month of the NBA season, becoming the first player in NBA history to average at least 32 points, 9.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists through the first 17 games of a season.

Westbrook was featured in a Jordan brand commercial dancing to Lil Uzi Vert's Do What I Want and the UCLA alum is definitely doing what he wants after recording his seventh triple double to power the Thunder over the Pistons, 106-88, Saturday night with 17 points, 15 assists and 13 rebounds.

According to NBA stats by ESPN, Westbrook leads the league in usage rate with a mark of 41.4, 6.2 points ahead of Houston Rockets star James Harden. In player efficiency rating, Westbrook, who has a PER of 30.6, is just second behind New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis and Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant who share the top spot with 31.24.

And after 18 games played, Westbrook is at the top of the NBA echelon, almost averaging a triple double. The Thunder star is second in scoring with his 31.2 points, just .1 point behind league leading Davis who has scored 31.3 points.

When it comes to assists, Westbrook's 11.2 assist average is only second to Harden's 12.4. "Brodie" is the best rebounding guard in the league, ranking 13 in NBA rebounding list dominated by center and power forwards with 9.9 boards a game.

If Westbrook continues his impressive play throughout the season, he is on the right track of duplicating what has only been done by NBA legend Oscar Robertson. Robertson averaged a triple double in the 1961-62 season with his famous 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists statline.

The Thunders will face the New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards next. Both teams are two of the ten worst teams based on defensive efficiency and Westbrook will surely try to pile up more points, rebound and assists.
