Three Korean celebrities Lee Sang Yoon, Daniel Henney and Jay Park will showcase their basketball skills in an upcoming variety show on tvN. They will be in a basketball variety show called "Buzzer Beat" where celebrities will go on a basketball match. Previous pro-basketball players will coach them.
"Buzzer Beat" will start recording this month and the pilot episode will officially air in early 2017. Lee, Henney and Park have confirmed to be some of the celebrity players to appear in the show, All K-Pop reported.
South Korean actor Yoon is known for Korean dramas "The Duo," "Seo-Young, My Daughter" and "Angel Eyes," as well as in films "Insane," "Santa Barbara" and "Sex is Zero 2." He just finished KBS2's "On the Way to the Airport" where he acted opposite Kim Ha Neul.
Yoon is a basketball fan who finds time watching live games, according to Chosun Sports. He was part of the All-Star Celebrity Team playing the game in January 2015, running, defending, blocking and shooting like a pro. His team won the match against South Korea's Asian Games' Gold Medalist Team.
Henney is a Michigan-born actor and model who appeared in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," "Shanghai Calling" and "Big Hero 6," as well as Korean dramas "My Lovely Sam-Soon," "Spring Waltz" and "The Fugitive: Plan B." His unique good looks from a half-Koren and half-Irish blood land him to be typecast as a rich English-speaking playboy in Asia or a smart guy educated in the United States. Henney's educational background includes a basketball scholarship.
Multi-awarded singer Park, the former member of JYP Entertainment's boy band 2PM known for his hit songs like ""Know Your Name" and "Joah," also plays basketball when he is free. Basketball is among the most popular sports in South Korea, along with football, tennis, ice hockey and golf.
South Korea's variety shows on television are very popular for their hilarity where one can see Korean celebrities play games, run through obstacle courses or sleep outdoors. They are the venue wherein famous personalities show their other side, which to the audience is always hilarious and refreshing.
