"Doom" has officially received a fifth free update from developer Id Software and publisher Bethesda Softworks. This new DLC adds in a multitude of content including bots and an increased level cap.
Bots have been added to the Deathmatch mode as well as the Team Deathmatch mode. Having bots will allow players to enjoy multiplayer-type matches without having to play with other online people. AI bots have been a staple of first-person shooter games since the rise of "Half-Life" and the "Quake" titles in the 1990s.
According to the update notes on the official website, the level cap has been raised to Echeleon 11. Players that achieve this will also be able unlock the new "Marine Armor." The armor has also been added to SnapMap and more tools have been included to give a more campaign-like experience.
These include 30 new Lazarus Lab modules and new props, allowing players to further customize their games as needed. Lazarus Lab enables multiplayer matches to have the same design similar to a single player campaign.
The third newest addition is the "Infernal Run" mode. This new game mode is designed around team-based goals. Each team will take hold of a ball and must throw it into their opponent's goal, Dual Shockers reported. This will be more akin to a sport like Basketball but with "Doom" violence and mechanics.
In celebration of the new update and all the additions it brings to the game's multiplayer a Double XP bonus has been implemented. This will continue until Dec. 12 and will aid players in ranking up to Echeleon 11.
A final announcement was also released as a bonus. This tidbit for fans confirm that the game's final paid DLC, "Bloodfall," will release on Dec. 15. This final DLC will add three new maps as well as the option to play as the Spectre Pinky demon, which can momentarily turn invisible
