"The Walking Dead: A New Frontier," the upcoming addition to Telltale Games's "The Walking Dead" episodic video game, will be released digitally this month. The studio decided that it is time for Clementine to take center stage so she will be the new hero. To let fans have a glimpse of the new main character, the studio released its launch trailer.
The upcoming third season for the graphic adventure game jumps several years forward and presents Clementine as a teenager. She started out as a young and scared grade-schooler in the first season but is now old enough to be the main protagonist of the game. She is joined by Javier, another teenager who is still trying to cope with his new situation -- living in a zombie infested world, Polygon reported.
This is the first time that fans of "The Walking Dead" game, which is based on Robert Kirkman's comic book series of the same title, will be able to use two playable characters. Another familiar face, Jesus, will also be back in the series and, this time, he offers a helping hand to the two teens.
The new season focuses on a new group of survivors called the New Frontier. According to the launch trailer that was recently released, the group "used to be decent people, now, they are something else."
The first two episodes of the game's third season, titled "Episode One: Ties That Bind Parts I and II," will debut digitally on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and three more episodes will follow.
Meanwhile, fans who are fond of collecting game discs will have to wait for February 2017. Telltale Games will release a special "Season Pass Disc" for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, which will include the premiere episodes of Season 3. The succeeding episodes will become available to download once they are released at no additional cost for the game disc owners.
"The Walking Dead: A New Frontier" is playable on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The game is also available for compatible iOS and Android devices.
