There are several reports claiming that "Running Man" has been shelved following the controversy surrounding Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook's departure from the show. Rumors also suggest that a completely show will take its place.
However, SBS has put an end to the speculation after issuing an official statement in the wake of the cancellation rumors. "The reports about the show coming to an end are completely false," the network said in a statement obtained by All Kpop. "Currently, we are in discussion about the subsequent program."
Song and Kim's departure from the show came as a huge shock to fans as they were cast members on the variety show for six long years. However, the pair later confirmed that they had no idea that they were dropped from the show and learned about it after media reports that started pouring in.
The show's producers received a lot of flak from Song and Kim's fans for the unfair treatment of both stars. Kang Ho Dong, the traditional Korean wrestler-turned-show host, had also been confirmed as an addition to the second season of "Running Man." However, he declined the offer to join the show following the controversy.
On Dec. 15, Thursday, the production issued an official apology to Song and Kim. "With the news of the unexpected reorganization being released, we hurt both Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook, two members who we have treated like family for the past seven years," the production crew said in a statement obtained by Soompi. "In regards to that aspect, we would like to sincerely apologize to both of them."
The team ended their statement with another apology for being inconsiderate with the way they handled the situation before saying sorry to other "Running Man" cast members for causing confusion. For more details about the story, watch the video below:
