"Avengers: Age of Ultron" director Joss Whedon is talking about the two Marvel characters that will make their debut on big screen this May. Whedon describes what makes them different from other "Avengers" characters.
Chatting with SFX magazine (via Comicboomovie), Whedon said Paul Bettany's character The Vision is "completely different" from the other characters. Exactly what makes him different from Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Hawkeye and others is "his power" and "perspective."
The director reveals that he is a form of "artificial life" that stays away from internal quarrels, "pain and self-doubt." He describes the character as "gentle" and "compelling." However, he seems a little dangerous too.
In the rest of the interview, the director talked about "Avengers: Age of Ultron" supervillain Ultron. The character will be played by "The Black List" actor James Spader. Speaking about the character, Whedon revealed that he feels that the Ultron is just an "angry" robot.
He reportedly is very much aware of "The Avengers" and has a "real beef" with the superheroes. Meanwhile, fans know that there is a great difference between Ultron of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and Ultron from the comic books. The movie depicts the Ultron as Tony Stark and Bruce Banner's creation. In the interview, Whedon elaborated how he brought out a different Ultron in the "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
"I didn't go back to them at all. You know, he was an angry robot." Whedon explained.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" director also talked about his experience of working with Spader. He had plenty of good things to say about actor's performance and how he pulled out the character. "But - and James and I talked about this - every now and then he'll have to do a non sequitur. And James is like 'I have to pull out this emotion from something that's not happening in this scene!' But that's who Ultron is. He's clicking on all these different cylinders. And James really took to it," Whedon explained.
