The Samsung Behold was a T-Mobile exclusive feature phone that arrived on November 10, 2008. The phone was popular for its 5MP camera (rear-facing only in those days) and a cool commercial having the song "Silly Boy" by the Blue Van. When the sequel was getting ready to launch a year after, Android phones were also ready to make some noise. The game changing Motorola DROID was about to launch on Verizon, and T-Mobile was about to launch the Samsung Behold II that would make the switch to smartphone status using Android.
Phone Arena reported that the Behold II was built with a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen, .2 inches bigger than the original model. The display was encircled by Gorilla Glass, and had a 320 x 480 resolution. 200MB of internal storage was inside, while a 16GB capacity microSD slot was available. A 2GB microSD card was added with the buying of the phone. The screen-to-body ratio was 47.1%, much less than the ratio visible on current phones that ranges from 65% to 91%.

CNet reported that initially announced at CTIA Fall 2009, the Samsung Behold II is Samsung's second Android device for the U.S market (the Samsung Moment is being the first) and T-Mobile's fourth Android contribution. Based on the Samsung Galaxy Lite the Behold II endeavors to set itself unique from the crowd with a AMOLED display, Samsung's TouchWiz interface, and improved multimedia capabilities. The touch screen is surely a stunner, multimedia performance is top and general performance is strong. Still, the TouchWiz interface doesn't truly add much to the user experience and in fact, some times, inhibits it. Additionally, the smartphone runs Android 1.5, that makes it $229.99 street price absolutely hard to gulp down, with the fact that the Motorola Droid with Android 2.0 for $199.99 from Verizon.
Having said that for T-Mobile customers looking for a more robust multimedia smartphone than the carrier's present line up of Android devices, the Samsung Behold II is definitely best choice. However, the high price tag is going to be the bigger fence for getting the smartphone to reach the masses. The Samsung Behold II will be available for purchase starting November 18.
