"16 and Pregnant" alum Valerie Fairman died on Dec. 21 of an apparent overdose.
The 23-year-old star from the reality show was reportedly found dead at 5pm on Wednesday in her friend's house in Pennsylvania.
Fairman's mother told TMZ that she was at a friend's home in Coatesville when the incident happened. Her daughter's friend repeatedly called for her but when she did not come out of the bathroom, she finally decided to break down the door. That was when she found Valerie already unresponsive.
The Chester County Coroner's office is currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
MTV also confirmed the death of Fairman who appeared on the second season of the network's reality show in 2009-2010.
In an official statement, MTV said, "We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time."
On the series, Fairman gave birth to her now 7-year-old daughter, Nevaeh. USA Today reported that her daughter is currently in the custody of Fairman's mom.
Since her appearance on the show, Fairman had severely struggled with substance abuse and had been arrested several times. One of her arrests was on prostitution charges in Delaware sometime in February 2015. Last week, the reality star was also busted for resisting arrest and issuing false ID to the police.
Meanwhile, David Pryce remembered Fairman in an exclusive interview with US Weekly following her death. Pryce said he wished he could have helped his troubled ex-flame, who had struggled with drug addiction for so long.
"I wish that I could have done more for her, that's basically how I feel. She was trying so hard. It's a lifelong problem," he said.
He went on to say that Fairman was a very good, intelligent and loving woman, so he was surprised when he had learned about her death.
"All I have to say about Valerie is people don't know how she really was. She was very loving. She was very insecure. She always wanted to go to places with me and just kind of hang out. Always wanted to be near me. She was a very, very good woman. She would just talk. She was very, very intelligent, which surprised me that she would end up like that," said Pryce.
Pryce dated Fairman for nine months in 2013. His nephew, Matthew, is the father of Fairman's daughter, Nevaeh.
