Apple Inc's educational program dubbed as "iPad in Education" failed to run smoothly due to several problems, including the need to create a generic Apple ID just to download content onto a student's iPad.
The program aims to promote and educate children about the technological advancements in today's world. Apple would sell its iPad as an educational device to help in teaching students, while promoting the company's own product., according to Bidness ETC.
However, the educational program was not able to push through in Los Angeles due to a conflict with the $1.3 billion budget plan for supplying every individual student with an iPad. Moreover, the schools also lacked necessary accessories such as keyboards and the students were trying to hack the devices.
Apple recommended that an iPad should be considered as a property of the school and that it should be shared among students. But, it also poses another problem as every iPad has a unique Apple ID, which restricts another student to download educational content to the device when needed. School staff had to go through the process of creating a new generic Apple ID to be able to do so.
The iPhone maker announced that it would be updating its policy for apps on school iPads. Schools will no longer be required to log in an Apple ID to be able to load apps, Invest Correctly reported.
Additionally, Apple Inc also said that schools will soon have the ability to set up and manage their students' Apple ID in 2016 through its iCloud service. Administrators of the school will be able to reset the Apple ID passwords for the school's students.
